PARDEW to the rescue

Things are looking a lot more positive now that ALAN PARDEW is in charge, writes Marc Toomey.

It may be being premature to think the Eagles are safe from the drop this season following a ALAN-PARDEW-wins-Premier-League-game-charge-Eagles-Selhurst-Park.html" target="_blank">2-1 victory over Tottenham at Selhurst Park and a 4-0 win against non-league opposition Dover in the third round of the FA Cup.

However, there were a lot to like about the performances and hunger of the players in both of those ties.

ALAN PARDEW's appointment has gone down very well with 99 per cent of Crystal Palace fans and their optimism was boosted in a spirited come back against Spurs on Saturday.

After going 1-0 down to Mauricio Pochettino’s men, the team never gave up which led to goals from Dwight Gayle and Jason Puncheon and, as a result all three points.

Anyone following Palace through December and events as they unfolded on news sites such as Blue Sq will know it was a miserable month for fans.

There was very little to cheer about before and during the Christmas period. Under Neil Warnock, we were heading in one direction which forced the board to make a decision which led to his departure.

Looking at the run of fixtures coming up over the next few weeks, there is every chance the Eagles can pick up some more crucial points to help us charge away from the relegation zone.

Our next task is away to Burnley, who have had some good results of their own recently. However, PARDEW will fancy his chances of coming away from the Lancashire club with all three points.

Games against teams in and around us in the table mean so much more so it is a big tie in our campaign.

Following the trip to Turf Moor, the Eagles have a FA Cup clash with either Ipswich or Southampton on the road.

It looked like PARDEW was taking the competition very seriously against Dover in the previous round so it would be no surprise if he named a very strong line-up once again in that match up.
